March 1987
This letter is to bring you vital information on some events taking place at Deer Lake this spring.
First of all, a follow up report on the purchase of the land at the head of the narrows. Donations have been coming in daily and I wish to thank each of you for your generous support. We still need further help to make the suggested improvements that I talked about in my letter to you on Jan. 15th. We have received much interest from other groups and agencies to help with the needed improvement. This interest has been shown by the U.S. Soil Conservation Service, Wash. State Fish and Game Wildlife Habitat. Ducks Unlimited, Dept. of Ecology and others.
One generous offer was made by Boise-Cascade Co. with offices in Kettle Falls and Loon Lake. To help us receive more funds, they have offered a logging truck load (40' lengths) of buckskin tamorack and Red fir. This load will be approx. 10 to 12 cords of wood. There offer is to deliver the load 66 any place in Stevens County sometime this summer and suggested we raffle it off. DLPOA has accepted their offer and raffle tickets are now being printed in books of ten to be sold for $1.00 each. We have printed 5000 tickets and encourage everyone's support to take a book of tickets to sell or buy for yourself. The raffle drawing will be held at our annual meeting ton June 20th at the Loon Lake School. DLPOA board director. Barbara Reed has offered to take charge of the raffle. She will be dispersing the books of tickets. Rather than mail them to you. we request that you call Barbara at 255-2167. Please continue your great support for this very important endeavor.
The volunteers of the Deer Lake Fire Dept. are sponsoring a Spaghetti Feed on Sat. May 25rd.. 1987 at the Fire Station, next to Haneys Resort at Deer Lake. It starts at 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - Adults (2.50 ea. - children under 12 for (1.50. All profits will go to DLPOA to be applied towards the purchase and improvements of the "narrows property". Hope to see you all there.
For those who have not yet sent your donations to DLPOA, the address is: Deer Lake Property Owners Assc. Rt. 1. Box 588. Loon Lake. Wash. 99148. Please help with your support. After all. it is to our benefit that we protect the water quality, and before we should expect others to help us, we need to show that we are concerned.
WOOD CUTTING - 1987 - Boise Cascade has once again offered the paid members of DLPOA the opportunity to cut fire wood this year. Lew Houdak is again chairman of this important project. For this program to continue we will need your volunteer HELP on the gate and in the woods. If you can HELP include a note with your name. phone no.. day or days you would be free to HELP.
