Utility Companies and Government Agencies

This page will list utility companies and govenment agencies that serve the Deer Lake area.

Deer Lake Garbage Dump
April-October: open Sat-Tues 9-5, Wed 9-1
November-March: Open Sat-Mon 9-5.
This place is WAY cheaper than the Spokane dumps. Minimum is $5.00, $65/ton.

Water and Sewer: Public Utility District #1 -- 233-2534

PO Box 592, Loon Lake, Wa 99148-0592
This group handles both water, which is optional, and sewer, which is mandatory. Deer and Loon lakes are one of the few in the area that require every house to be sewered. This has had an incredible effect on the quality of the lake itself, which used to be subject to 900 septic tanks pouring into it.

Electricity: Inland Power and Light -- 1-800-572-0955

320 E. 2nd St, Spokane
It is kind of wierd dealing with these guys, since they do not read your meter. You have to read it every month and send it in (which you can now do on the internet at www.inlandpower.com). Which is a real pain if you don't go up to the lake for months at a time during the winter. They do have a winter fixed monthly payment plan, but it is usually a lot higher than what you would pay reading the meter.

Propane: InterState Gas -- 276-7882

2025 E. Crawford Ave
These guys will rent you a humongeous tank, and keep it filled all year long.
Natural Gas (where available): Avista

Natural Gas hookups are presently available only in the NorthWest part of the lake, around the Public Access area, up to about Deer Lake Resort. It is unlikely that any other areas of the lake will get served any time soon.

Fire Department -- 233-8015

I presume this is some sort of office, and that if you have something cooking that you should call 911.
Stevens County Library -- 233-9621
4008 Cedar, Loon Lake

Loon Lake Post Office

Located on Maple and colville, closed during lunch hour.  Friendly service.
